Combine your love for the outdoors and the cherished men in your life into one fabulous event, a Father’s Day BBQ! According to History.com, Father’s Day began in the state of Washington in 1910. It was created in response to celebrating Mother’s Day while having no recognition for fathers. The tradition of spoiling dad really took off during WWII as a result of the war effort. http://www.history.com/topics/holidays/fathers-day
The first step in putting together a gathering is to plan how many people will attend, décor, and menu. We went for a classic picnic with the menu and decor. We chose a blue checkered tablecloth over the traditional red as a nod to dad’s favorite color.
Next, it’s time to get grilling! Take some photos as dad shows off his skills on the BBQ. You will cherish having these memories to look back on.
We set the table with neutral colors to allow the blue of the tablecloth to really stand out. Mini chalkboards label each food item. Try listing main ingredients on your chalkboards. This will warn any guests with food allergies which foods to stay away from.
Lastly, set out the food and enjoy your Father’s Day celebration! Adopt the Thanksgiving tradition of having everyone go around the table and say what they’re thankful for by saying what they treasure most about dad!
